Yamsi Ranch

Pacific Northwest

Widely recognized for their skills as ranchers, anglers, and stewards of the environment, the Hyde’s offer their guest rustic accommodations, access to seven miles of cold clear flowing spring creek, a large prolific private lake, and a chance at landing wild trout that can top the magical 30 inch mark. While primarily a wild rainbow fishery, the Yamsi Ranch is also home to the largest river-born brook trout in the west. Typically the season starts off with a remarkable black drake hatch followed by hexagenias, pale morning duns, and finishes with hoppers and blue winged olives.

For anglers that relish solitude, independence on the water and the challenge of low gradient spring creek style fly fishing, this is nothing short of a treasure. While most packages are lightly guided, fully guided packages are also available. Three day minimum stay requested. In most cases such packages will include one day of guided fishing.

The Williamson River is fed by five springs on the property. Coming out of the sandy hillsides at 45 CFS, the river has the same flow all year and is not affected by spring runoff and late season high temperatures. The water is crystal clear and a consistent 42 degrees year round. We feel that the river is best suited to intermediate to advanced anglers and that stealth is of a premium.

Yamsi Ranch Location:
Yamsi Ranch is located on the headwaters of the Williamson River, approximately 1.5 hours by car north of Klamath Falls, OR.

Yamsi Ranch Fishing Program:
Nearly 100 years ago the Hyde family homesteaded a remarkable piece of land where Oregon’s renowned Williamson River bubbles up from the ground. The Hydes and their land are inseparable and the experience they offer the visiting angler is the most sincere and unique western venue we have encountered.

Yamsi Ranch Non-Angling Activities:
While best suited to serious anglers, non-fishermen have plenty to do at Yamsi, including canoeing Hyde Lake, walking the river, reading and relaxing on the front porch or challenging Gerda and the grandchildren to a game of dominoes.

The ranch is a wildlife sanctuary. On bird watching and nature hikes down the valley, you may see bald eagles, pelicans, herons, egrets, ducks, song birds, elk, cougars, coyotes all living peacefully in a balanced, healthy ecosystem.

Yamsi Ranch Accommodations and Meals:
Visiting anglers sleep in single and double rooms in the historic ranch house or in a rustic two story cabin that can accommodate groups of up to 8-10 guests. The seven bedroom main house, built in1928, is unique, rustic and comfortable, featuring a homey mix of pine, leather, antiques, quilts, old books and assorted memorabilia.

Meals and riverside BBQ’s are casual and relaxed and arranged around prime fishing hours.

Note: Please be sure to bring you own wine and alcohol.

"We had a wonderful time at Yamsi Ranch. The weather was fantastic and everyone in the Hyde family was great. Overall, we were very, very happy with the trip, and it will definitely be a place we'll go back to. Thanks for all the help with putting this trip together for us. The professionalism and customer service that Fly Water Travel puts into their business is not something that we're used to seeing in the fly fishing industry. It was refreshing to see the effort you put into make the trip just what we were looking for." D.D., OR
