Upper Klamath River Canyon

Pacific Northwest

This rough and tumble section of the Klamath River has avoided press for many years but has been a coveted personal playground for the staff of Fly Water Travel. Due to the treacherous nature of the wade fishing, we never envisioned it as a guidable venue until Roe Outfitters’ skillful utilization of self bailing rafts. With a relatively short spring and fall season, don’t delay in being one of the first outsiders to enjoy the West’s most exciting trophy rainbow system.

Location:
The Klamath River canyon is located in southern Oregon, approximately 15 miles southwest of Klamath Falls, OR.

Fishing Program:
The Klamath Canyon is an extremely rugged section of river located in Oregon. The water is typically off color and very fast. This section of the Klamath river can only be floated by Roe Outfitters and due to its rough and tumble nature, is best suited to adventuresome anglers. The rainbow trout here tend to be very stout and average 14-18 inches with hearty fish in the 19-23 inch class being fairly common. The river fishes best in April and May and in October and November. When the system is on, it can be some of the best rainbow trout fly fishing in the Pacific Northwest.

Guides for Roe Outfitters tend to start early in the morning. Please bring your own breakfast snacks. The Running Y has coffee makers in the rooms and made coffee at the front desk. Anglers will be asked to help in running the shuttle, so please be sure to have gas in the tank.
