River Plate Outfitters

Brazil

The Amazon River basin is home to some of the worlds hardest fighting game fish and sense 1992 Luis Brown’s River Plate Outfitters have been setting the standard for the Amazon fishing experience. From their base in northern Brazil River Plate outfitters, with their fleet of 6 Fly-In Cabin Barges and the Fly-In Amazon Angel, offer the most diverse Amazon angling experience possible. Their experience and mobile fleet give them fishing access to hundreds of miles on over a dozen tributaries of the amazons Rio Negro River. River Plate’s Fly-In Floating Cabins are the perfect fishing tools, providing headwaters access, mobility, comfort and luxury. River Plate selects locations with productive secluded lagoons, hours away on the fastest bass boats from the melee of competing house boats and lodges congregated on the Rio Negro’s main channel water ways.  On arrival from the US, you travel directly to one of five Floating Cabin camps via a new, state-of-the-art, 8 passenger Cessna Caravan turbo prop floatplane. When you arrive you will find fully carpeted, tastefully decorated Cabins, with every detail carefully considered. At the 12’ x 23’ dinning/sitting lounge, you'll dine on linen table cloths enjoying the chef’s four course meals. Fresh breads and pastries are baked daily and chilled wines, ice-cold beer, soft drinks, and Brazilian-style Caipirinhas flow freely throughout your fishing trip. Each of the Floating Cabin operations are managed by a knowledgeable fisherman, experienced in handling the logistics inherent in Amazon fishing operations. Since the groups are small, the staff and bilingual host offer uniquely personalized hands-on attention. Breakfast room service, laundry service and guest satellite phone are a few of the available amenities.

While some anglers opt for anti-malarial meds, Jeff Vermillion, who co-owns the camp and spends more than two months there annually, does not get any shots before departure. For a conservative opinion please check out www.cdc.gov. Note: malaria has not been an issue in this specific region of Brazil.

River Plate Outfitters Accommodations:
The River Plate’s operation consists of 6 Fly-In Cabin Barges plus the Fly-In Amazon Angel Yacht:

CABIN BARGES:
Cabin barges have proved to be the perfect fishing tool, providing mobility, comfort and luxury.  Drawing only about 4 inches of water, the small barges are a break-thru for navigating over shallow water barriers, away from all fishing pressure.  The ability to by-pass natural barriers is the key to exceptional fishing.  Each two-angler bedroom barge has a steel structure 8’ X 15’ room, fully carpeted wooden platforms, 4-ply insulated roof, fully screened walls and aluminum entry door, shower bathroom, standard size beds, air conditioning, 220 volt electricity, etc.  The caravan consists of 9 barges:  Five bedrooms, one 18’ X 10’ dinning/sitting lounge, one host quarters, one kitchen and one staff bedroom.

AMAZON ANGEL:
The tri-level Amazon Angel has been carefully designed to please the international angler, with eight air conditioned staterooms, three large bathrooms with showers, a lovely dining room and separate cocktail salon – both air conditioned – and an open air top deck with grill and additional bar.  All guests are accommodated in single rooms.

River Plate Outfitters Climate:
Temperatures range from the mid 80’ to the mid 90’s. Humidity varies and can be high especially after rain showers which can and do occur throughout the season.
