Pesca Maya Lodge Travel:You will need to Fly to Cancun (CUN), Mexico, and plan on arrival between 11:00AM and 2:00PM Cancun time. Cancun is serviced by numerous domestic carriers including American, Continental, and US Air, and non stop flights are available from Miami, Dallas, Houston, Newark, Denver, LA and several other cities. Connections from most US cities permit arrivals before 2:00PM.
Due to the duration of the transfer, Pesca Maya schedules one transfer per day, usually departing Cancun around 1:30PM. If you arrive early (11:00AM for example), you may have to wait for other guests to arrive before leaving the airport. If there are no other arrivals later that day you will depart Cancun immediately. However, guests arriving to Cancun after 2:00PM may be charged a special transfer surcharge if the normally scheduled Pesca Maya transfer has already departed for the Lodge. If there are no other arrivals on your arrival day, Pesca Maya will schedule the transfer to your arrival time. The current special transfer surcharge is US $200 per vehicle trip, divided by the number of late arriving guests.
Pesca Maya Lodge Documentation:You must have a valid US passport to enter Mexico. This will be used to obtain your Mexican Tourist Card. Keep your copy of the card with you during your stay. Expect to pay a departure tax of approximately $20 US when leaving Mexico. Many times this tax is already included in your ticket so check with your ticket agent. No inoculations are required.
Pesca Maya Lodge Fishing Program:Ascension Bay is only 90 miles south of Cancun, Mexico, and offers endless crystal clear flats, mangrove lagoons, channels, reefs, where bonefish, permit, tarpon, snook, barracuda, jacks and others swim. Located within the Sian Ka’an biosphere reserve, Pesca Maya Lodge offers year round possibilities for bonefish, permit, and jacks. Tarpon season runs from April through October and snook season is from November through March. The Sian Ka'an Preserve is home to more than 345 species of birds, including over one million wintering migratory song birds.
Anglers access the fishing areas on traditional Mexican Pangas with two guides on every boat (one senior guide and one junior guide). While the vast majority of the angling is done from the boat there are also opportunities to wade fish for bonefish and permit.
Pesca Maya Lodge Accommodations and Meals:Pesca Maya Lodge is a wonderfully comfortable and casual operation located on a solitary white sand beach. The lodge can accommodate up to 20 guests sharing a room. The 10 rooms all have AC and private bathroom and most have ocean views.
