When not traveling to the far corners of the world in pursuit of billfish on the fly, world-renowned big game angler and instructor Jake Jordan has enjoyed a 30 year career guiding the turquoise waters of the Florida Keys. Ranging from Key Largo south to the Marquesa’s, Jake’s guests enjoy classic sight fishing for giant tarpon, night-fishing opportunities, and skilled instruction. Quality tackle and flies are also included. Anglers can stay at the Tranquility Bay Cay Club Resort or a number of local motels. Early reservations required for giant tarpon in April, May and June.

Florida Tarpon Fishing Travel:
To get to Marathon to fish for Tarpon you will need to make arrangements to fly into the Key West or Miami, Florida airport. Miami is 90 miles from the resort and Key West is about 45 miles from the resort. You will need to rent a car and drive to Marathon and your accommodations. There is no fishing on arrival day, but you will hear from your guide later that evening to discuss the plans for your first day of fishing.

Florida Tarpon Fishing Accommodations and Meals:
The Hammocks at Marathon offers a choice of studio, one or two bedroom villa accommodations, a spacious swimming pool and a tiki hut overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. After a workout at the fitness center, an on-site marina puts a panorama of water sports at your doorstep. Each condo offers beautiful, kitchen-equipped suites and all amenities. Rent boats and jet skis at the marina or just relax by the pool and tiki bar overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.

Meals are taken on your own yet your guide will offer dinner suggestions. You will need to bring lunch on the boat each day. You will need to make arrangements the night prior for your breakfasts and lunches. Each condo comes with a full kitchen. The guide will supply you with bottled water, diet coke, and Gatorade each day.

Florida Tarpon Fishing Climate:
Temperatures typically range from the low 70’s to the mid 90’s with humidity. Isolated afternoon thunder-showers are a possibility year round. Wind can be factor while fishing and the sun is very strong.
